This is an inter-generational “good neighbor” project. One of the objectives is to improve seniors’ mobility.

This service is offered free of charge:
- To people with reduced mobility
- To people ages 70 and over with diminishing abilities
To apply contact the organization that offers the service. People with reduced mobility must present a reference from a health care professional, while people ages 70 and over with diminishing abilities need only present proof of age.
Capacity is limited, so service is offered on a first come, first served basis. The service is offered on a first come, first served basis depending on available snow removal routes.

To be eligible for the service, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a person age 65 or over without functional limitations
or
- Be a person with reduced mobility
and
- Be unable to clear snow yourself
- Not live with someone who is able to clear snow
- Be a resident of the borough

Snow clearing assistance is offered free of charge by the Brigade neige solidaire (Snow Brigade) in partnership with CIUSSS du Nord-de-l’Île-de-Montréal and le Centre des jeunes l’Escale.
The service is offered on the first business day following a snowfall of more than 5 cm. Since our volunteers are students, service is offered after school ends in the afternoon on weekdays.

The Brigade Neige’s (Snow Brigade) snow removal assistance service is made possible through collaboration with the Carrefours Jeunesse-Emploi de Rivière-des-Prairies et de Pointe-aux-Trembles-Montréal-Est.
This service is offered to Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles residents who meet one of the following criteria:
- have reduced mobility.
- are age 70 or over.
AND
- own a family home
- are referred by the CLSC or a partner organization
Requests are processed directly by the two delegated agencies.

A snow removal assistance service is offered free of charge by the Brigade neige (Snow Brigade).
This service is offered to residents of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie who meet the following criteria:
- You are a person with reduced mobility or living with a permanent functional limitation or a major health problem
- You live below the low income cut-off
- You are not already receiving snow removal assistance from another person or organization
Places are limited. You must complete an eligibility questionnaire. The recruitment of recipients begins in October.
Your request may be refused if there are not enough resources available.
This service is not a replacement for professional snow removal. It is limited to clearing snow and ice from private homes (staircase, ramp, front porch). It is offered by volunteers from Carrefour Jeunesse Emploi Rosemont / Petite-Patrie, during the day, Monday to Friday.

Maison de jeunes de Saint-Léonard
Snow clearing assistance through the Brigade neige (Snow Brigade) is made possible thanks to the cooperation of the “Repaire jeunesse Dawson” organization.
The BGC Dawson snow-shoveling brigade is a paid internship program that offers students the opportunity to develop employability aptitudes and to create a sense of belonging, while participating in a community snow-removal project.
Eligibility
The service is available to people who live in Verdun and meet the following criteria:
- Functional limitations involving mobility or vision
- People aged 64 or older, who live alone
Residents of a condominium are not eligible.
Please note that we do not remove snow from secondary entrances or rear entrances, except in cases where they are needed for wheelchair access.
Normal service hours
After school hours, young people ages 13 to 17 will clear snow from front walkways (the area between residential doors and the street or sidewalk.)
- Weekdays, between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- No service on Sunday
Holiday schedule
From December 21 to January 5, the services will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Service will be unavailable on December 24, 25, 31 and January 1.
Registration
The registration period for the winter of 2024-2025 is now over.
Applications received will be analyzed by borough staff and members of the citizens’ committee working on universal accessibility improvements in Verdun.
Residents who are not eligible or whose applications are not retained will be informed, just like those residents who are approved for the service.
