Regardless of where you borrow your books, you can return them to any library in the network. The Grande Bibliothèque (BAnQ) also accepts book returns in most cases.
Return a book to any library in the network
Regardless of which local library you use, you can:
- Return your documents to the service counter at any library in the network.
- Slide your documents into the outdoor chute, even after the libraries close.
Return a book to the Grande Bibliothèque
The Grande Bibliothèque, a member of the Bibliothèques et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ), is not part of Montréal’s network of libraries. However, documents borrowed from any library within the network can be returned to the Grande Bibliothèque, with the following exceptions:
- audiovisual documents: DVDs, Blu-ray, CDs, vinyl records, audio books
- documents borrowed through the interlibrary loan service
- large-format documents
- bestsellers available for rental
- video games
- multimedia documents (e.g., language learning modules)

Go to one of the libraries in the network or to the Grande Bibliothèque.
