Major Roadwork on 55e Avenue in Lachine

Starting the week of June 29, water main rehabilitation work will take place on 55e Avenue in Lachine, between Rue Victoria and Autoroute 20.   

Start of work: Week of June 29, 2026  

Estimated completion: in approximately 14 weeks  

Location: East side of 55e Avenue

Traffic impacts 

Autoroute 20: All on- and off-ramps will remain open. Delays are expected due to the reduced number of lanes on 55e Avenue Sud.

55e Avenue southbound: Traffic will remain open in both directions between Autoroute 20 and Rue Victoria on the west side of the avenue. 55e Avenue will not be accessible from Rue Sherbrooke. 

Industrial areas: Access via 55e Avenue from the south of Lachine

Bicycle traffic   

Access to bike paths will remain open. 

Public transit   

STM bus stops, schedules and routes may be subject to change.  For more information: STM-INFO (514-786-4636) or stm.info. 

Parking 

Residents’ driveways will remain accessible.  On-street parking will be prohibited from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, in the area affected by the construction work. 

Details of the roadwork

This roadwork, carried out by Ville de Montréal, will make it possible to improve the efficiency of the drinking water line and extend its service life by more than 50 years.
