Optimized watering of young trees in Pierrefonds-Roxboro

Watering bags have been installed in the borough over the past few weeks to improve the survival and establishment rates of newly planted trees.
Our teams installed these irrigation systems in the fall for several reasons, including the fact that this is the time of year when new trees are planted. In addition, fall is a crucial time for trees as they prepare for the cold season. In fact, many urban trees suffer from a lack of water after the summer.
The watering bags will then be removed just before winter and may be put back in the spring if the weather is very dry.
Improved watering
Watering bags provide a slow, continuous, and constant supply of water for about four hours through a drip irrigation system. This root-zone irrigation promotes better water absorption by the soil and helps reduce water stress in trees.
Resource optimization
This initiative is part of an effort to improve the survival rate of newly planted trees while optimizing watering operations and the use of our resources.
Protected and healthy trees
In addition, the bag wrapped around the tree provides extra protection for the trunk against certain types of mechanical damage.
It is a simple yet highly effective tool for promoting the growth of a healthy urban canopy.
