Pierrefonds-Roxboro partners with Écohabitation to better protect homes
Are you a homeowner who has already experienced flooding caused by heavy rain? Through a partnership with Écohabitation, the Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough is offering you free assistance to make your home more resilient to flooding.
In the wake of the heavy rains on June 20, 2026, and given the increased frequency of extreme weather events, the Borough wishes to take a proactive approach by offering practical support to homeowners to help them increase their homes’ resilience to flood risks.
It is in this context that Pierrefonds-Roxboro is partnering with Écohabitation to offer a specialized support service to eligible homeowners who have already experienced flooding.
Why enroll in the program?
Whether you’re looking to prepare your home for heavy rains, protect your basement from water damage, or make your home more resilient to flooding, we’ll work with you to ensure your home is better protected and more resilient in the face of climate change.
If you are eligible for this support, this information will allow us to conduct a comprehensive assessment of your property, identify its vulnerabilities, and propose a personalized action plan, including:
- flood protection measures tailored to your situation;
- technical and regulatory considerations;
- the process for obtaining available grants for your flood protection work, if applicable;
- key information to share with contractors when requesting quotes.
Écohabitation and the JeRénovÉco program
Écohabitation is a neutral, independent nonprofit organization specializing in sustainable housing. Its JeRénovÉco program guides you through your renovations to better prepare your home for future disasters.
The program is now in effect and will run until 2027. Free support services are available on a limited basis and are provided on a “first come, first served” basis.
Support and the work plan
The support includes, in particular, a work plan: a document that proposes concrete improvements to make your residence more resilient. For example, it may identify the causes of flooding or the building’s vulnerabilities, suggest measures to address them, and outline available grants.
- The document is tailored to the specific characteristics of your home and your situation (exact location, flood protection measures already in place, etc.).
- It is completed by experts from Écohabitation.
- The guidance and work plan are provided free of charge (until all spots are filled).
To apply, simply fill out the online form and upload photos of your home directly to it.
Once you’ve completed the form, you should receive your work plan within the next few weeks.
Analysis of bids
Would you like to move forward with the proposals in the work plan? Use it as a reference when requesting bids from contractors (general contractors, plumbing and foundation specialists, etc.).
Once you’ve received the proposals, you may still want to call on Écohabitation’s expertise to evaluate the bids. Your account manager can compare them and ensure they comply with current regulations. You can then follow up with the specialists to ensure the quotes are in compliance and that the planned work is tailored to your specific situation.
This second phase of support is also offered free of charge, with limited spots available, and is provided on a “first come, first served” basis.
Who is eligible for the program?
To be eligible for the support service, you must meet the following criteria:
