Report a swarm of bees
Did you notice a group or colony of bees on your property or near your home? Would you like to report its presence and allow for it to be collected safely? Polliflora, a solidarity cooperative organization, works in partnership with the city to provide this service from May to August.
Distinguishing bees from wasps
Polliflora will not come remove wasp nests. You can send them pictures to help confirm the presence of bees.
Relocating bees
Some situations may cause a queen and some of the bees in her colony to leave their hive and form a new colony. This phenomenon creates what looks like a cloud of bees, also called swarming, which is generally harmless.
The city works in collaboration with Polliflora to collect and relocate the bees, thus allowing them to continue to contribute to the reproduction of plants and fruit trees.
Contact Polliflora
Services are offered from May 1 to August 31, daily, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is recommended that you contact Polliflora as soon as you notice the bee swarm, so that it can be collected.
Excluded situations
Polliflora will not respond if the swarm of bees is located:
- More than 3 meters above the ground
- In a location that requires working on a structure
- In a location that is unsafe for beekeepers and their equipment (e.g., a ladder that cannot be stabilized)
- In a hollow or crack in a tree
