Owners of heritage buildings and other types of residential buildings
It is no longer possible to request an extension to replace air conditioning, refrigeration, cooling or heating equipment, a generator, or any other building mechanical equipment that uses drinking water. You must comply with the by-law immediately.
Owners of industrial, commercial, or institutional buildings
You cannot request an extension and must comply with the by-law immediately.
Fines for infractions
If you are a residential homeowner:
- for a first offence, the fine will be $200 to $500.
- for any subsequent offence, the fine will be $500 to $2,000.
Industrial, commercial, or institutional bodies:
- for a first offence, the fine will be $400 to $1000.
- for any subsequent offence, the fine will be $500 to $4,000.
