Spring flooding - L'Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève
Find out everything you need to know about the current situation and the borough’s preparations for spring flooding.
Current situation - May 5, 2026
The situation remains stable, as water levels continue to slowly decrease. But we are not out of the woods yet: as long as all the snow of northern regions has not melted, a potential rise remains possible.
It is therefore strongly recommended to keep all protective measures in place for another two weeks. Depending on the forecasts, the situation should become clearer after the long weekend.
Reminder: Keep your pallets
When the dismantling time comes, all used sandbags will need to be placed back on a pallet to facilitate collection during cleanup operations.
As for the sealed pallets, they can be reused, so please do not remove the wrapping unless you plan on using the sandbags.
Implemented measures and completed actions:
Pumps, backflow valves and dikes were installed in strategic areas of the territory such as:
- Barabé Crescent
- Jean-Yves
- The Sacré-Cœur | Paquin | Roy area
- Du Pont
- Parc du Portage (installation of a muscle wall)
The Ile Mercier bridge was reopened to vehicle traffic as of noon on May 2nd.
The shuttle service made available to residents on Joly Street is currently on hod as water levels have decreased.
Sandbags have been placed in the most vulnerable areas and distributed to residents in known critical areas.
→ SAND BAGS
If you have not received any sandbags and are noticing an unusual water accumulation on your property, please contact Public Security at 514 620-7729. An agent will visit your property to assess the situation and coordinate a sandbag delivery if needed.
Be prepared : prevention is everyone’s responsability!
If you live in an area at risk of flooding, we recommend that you remain vigilant and monitor the situation as it evolves, while taking the necessary measures to protect your property and family.
It is important to keep all protective measures in place in anticipation of rising water levels.
To find out if you live in a flood zone area, please consult this map or contact us by phone (514 620-6607) or by email at: [email protected].
