Work on Christophe-Colomb, between Jarry and Jean-Talon

This Villeray—Saint-Michel—Parc-Extension project involves the reconstruction and rehabilitation of water and sewer pipes. Work is also planned to ensure pedestrian safety, update lighting and improve the traffic light system.

The work is part of a project to build new bike lanes on Avenue Christophe-Colomb, from Boulevard Gouin to Rue Saint-Grégoire, linking 4 boroughs over a distance of approximately 7 kilometers.

Avenue Christophe-Colomb, between Rue Jarry and Rue Jean-Talon

When?

From July 2024 to spring 2026

What?

In 2024, construction began between Rue Villeray and Rue Jean-Talon:

  • installation of a temporary aqueduct network for the duration of the project
  • reconstruction and rehabilitation of water and sewer lines
  • addition of concrete islands
  • installation of temporary sidewalks
  • reconstruction of the Commission des Services Électriques de Montréal (CSEM) access shaft

The worksite resumed in the spring of 2025 and continued through the fall, between Rue Jarry and Rue Jean-Talon, with work on:

  • water and sewer connections
  • lighting
  • roadways (pavement and sidewalks)
  • of the CSEM
  • traffic lights
  • paving, bicycle path and road markings

The final phase of road paving will be completed in the spring of 2026, along with repairs on underground infrastructure (water mains, sewers) and surface infrastructure (sidewalks). 

Planting will follow during the summer, once the project is complete.
