The selection of new eligible users is based on the following criteria: 

• Referral by a health-care professional (such as a nurse, social worker, other healthcare or community worker)
• Residents who are over 70 years of age and have reduced mobility
• Residents who can provide proof of low income (such as notice of assessment)

People with reduced mobility must provide a referral from a health-care professional or community organization. 

Proof of age will be required for residents who are over 70 years of age and living with reduced autonomy.

The borough’s free snow removal service for vulnerable people and those with reduced mobility is connected to a pilot project for social integration and intergenerational mediation.

The service is offered on the first business day following a snowfall of more than 5 cm. Since our volunteers are students, service is offered after school ends in the afternoon on weekdays.

The Brigade Neige’s (Snow Brigade) snow removal assistance service is made possible through collaboration with the Carrefours Jeunesse-Emploi de Rivière-des-Prairies et de Pointe-aux-Trembles-Montréal-Est. 

This service is offered to Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles residents who meet one of the following criteria:

• have reduced mobility.
• are age 70 or over.

and

• own a family home
• are referred by the CLSC or a partner organization

Requests are processed directly by the two delegated agencies.

A snow removal assistance service is offered free of charge by the Brigade neige (Snow Brigade).

This service is offered to residents of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie who meet the following criteria:

• You are a person with reduced mobility or living with a permanent functional limitation or a major health problem
• You live below the low income cut-off
• You are not already receiving snow removal assistance from another person or organization

Places are limited. You must complete an eligibility questionnaire. The recruitment of recipients begins in October.

This service is not a replacement for professional snow removal. It is limited to clearing snow and ice from private homes (staircase, ramp, front porch). It is offered by volunteers from Carrefour Jeunesse Emploi Rosemont / Petite-Patrie, during the day, Monday to Friday.

The Brigade-neige snow removal assistance service is offered free-of-charge, in collaboration with the organization Toujours ensemble.

Who is this service intended for? 

The program is offered to a maximum of 40 residents.

To be eligible for this service, you must meet the following requirements:

• be at least 64 years old
• live alone or have functional or mobility limitations,
• reside in a private home or rental apartment. 

Private seniors’ residences (RPA), co-ownership buildings (condominiums where the condo association provides snow removal services, as well as buildings managed by organizations do not qualify for the program. Example: buildings having a single entrance for all units.

Important: secondary and rear entrances will not be cleared.

Service period

The snow removal assistance service is offered from December 15, 2025, until the first week of April.

Normal service hours

Services are provided by young workers between 13 and 17 years of age. They clear the snow between your home’s main entrance and the public thoroughfare (street or sidewalk), after school hours.

• Weekdays, between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. 
• Saturdays, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. 
• No services are offered on Sundays

Holiday schedule

From December 21, to January 5, the service is provided from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
There will be no services on December 24, 25 and 31, nor on January 1.

Area restrictions

This service is not available in L’Île-des-Sœurs.

Registration

Fill out the registration form (in French) between Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 9 p.m.

Read sections 1, 2 and 3 of the form carefully, before you submit it.

The form may be filled out by the following people:

• the client who will receive the service
• a healthcare provider
• with the assistance of a city employee at an Accès Montréal office counter (BAM), or of an agent at the Centre communautaire Marcel-Giroux at 514-765-7150 or Centre communautaire Elgar at 514-765-7270.

Snow clearing assistance is made possible through the collaboration of Spectre de rue (TAPEL) organization.

This service is provided free of charge to persons with reduced mobility and seniors with a letter of recommendation from their CLSC worker or their attending physician.
