Renovation and construction work is permitted between 7:30 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. This kind of work is prohibited on Sundays and public holidays.

The use of construction equipment, such as cranes, concrete mixers, excavators, scrapers and graders, is permitted from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, except on statutory holidays. It is prohibited on Saturdays and Sundays.

Use of jackhammers and crushers is only permitted on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This rule does not apply to emergency work.

Non-residential areas

In non-residential areas, construction work is permitted between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday to Friday, and between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Noise caused by the following activities and machines is tolerated: 

  • Mowers, leaf blowers, trimmers: between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekdays and between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays
  • Elevator, garage door and plumbing movements perceived inside a dwelling
  • Construction work near a residential area between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays and between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays 
  • Municipal maintenance and snow removal
  • Authorized public festivals held in a public place
  • Road, rail and air traffic
