A number of boroughs have regulations for clotheslines. If yours does, you must comply with them.

No permit is needed to put up a clothesline.

However, clotheslines are only allowed in the back of your home, not in front, on the private property.

It is prohibited to attach a clothesline to a hydro pole or to any other public utility pole.

  1. Clotheslines are only allowed in the back of your home, not in front.
  2. Clotheslines are not permitted in Anjou-sur-le-Lac. Only portable clothes drying racks are permitted in the district. They must be placed at least 2 m from the property line, have a maximum height of 2.15 m and a maximum area of 4 m².
