Field operations

Teams are deployed in the field to secure sidewalks and streets. Planned interventions:

  • Starting the evening of March 10: preventive spreading of abrasives and de-icers on sidewalks.
  • Starting March 11: continuous spreading of abrasives and de-icers on sidewalks and streets until conditions are safe.
  • Our teams are already on the ground: according to the latest weather forecasts, the freezing rain is expected to begin this afternoon and continue into the evening.

What to do

  • Make sure to park your vehicle at least 30 cm from the curb to allow sidewalk spreading vehicles to pass.
  • If trees become iced over, branches may break and fall. Avoid wooded areas and paths.
  • Postpone your travel if possible.
  • Prepare your home in case of a power outage (charge your cell phones and prepare an emergency kit with drinking water, food, flashlights, etc.).

Need assistance?

⇒ Call 311 if the situation requires Public Works intervention (e.g., fallen branch blocking the road).
⇒ Call 911 for any dangerous situation requiring police or firefighters.
