Work Projects in Lachine

On this page, the borough of Lachine’s Administration presents the latest news on work projects under way or planned on borough territory. These sometimes inconvenient projects, involving road repairs, park renovations or building construction, help improve our residents’ living environment.

Work projects under way

Building construction

Parks

  • Brewster: conversion to a sponge park - August 6, 2024 - June 2025
  • Grovehill: repairs to volleyball and basketball courts, skateboard area - August 5, 2024 - summer 2025
  • Community garden on the grounds of the Sisters of St. Anne: new park in the planning stages
  • Jenkins: new park in the planning stages
  • Kirkland: replacement of lighting and surveillance cameras - September - October 2025
  • Bassin Rockfield dog park: new park in the planning stages

Public squares

  • Quai 34 (Pier34): landscaping work - spring 2025

Reconstruction of water and sewer lines (spring-summer-fall 2025)

  • Rue Remembrance, between 19e Avenue and 25e Avenue
  • 18e Avenue, between rue Notre-Dame and rue Victoria
  • 25e Avenue, between rue Saint-Antoine and 24e Avenue
  • Rue Dawes, between 32e Avenue and 34e Avenue
  • 34e Avenue, between rue Dawes and rue Notre-Dame

Complete reconstruction of the roadway may include, as needed, rehabilitation of sewer lines and water mains by lining, and replacement of lead water connections. A notice of roadwork will be distributed in advance to the homes concerned.

Paving work (summer 2025)

  • Avenue Saint-Pierre, between rue de La-Berge-du-Canal and rue Richmond: lighting, traffic lights, utilities and paving
  • Avenue Milton: street lighting and paving
  • Rue Provost: paving and lighting
  • Local streets: sidewalk repairs

Residents directly affected by the work will receive an information letter before the work begins.

Traffic calming work (summer 2025)

  • Jardin-des-Saints-Anges school (rue Saint-Louis and 12th Avenue): Improvements to traffic safety and resurfacing of pavement as part of the program to improve safety near schools
  • Local streets: addition of speed humps and drainage curb extensions.
