Before submitting your application

  • Send an e-mail to Ville en vert to find out whether the alleyway is public.
  • Form an alleyway committee.
  • Mobilize your neighbours. At least 55 per cent of local residents must be in favour of the project.

Steps

1 - Present the green alleyway project to your éco-quartier

2 - Projects selected by the borough

Projects are evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • feasibility and greening potential
  • impacts on the community
  • involvement of abutting owners

Only projects aimed at greening public alleyways are eligible for this program.



3 - Mobilize abutting owners

  • Get majority support from abutting owners (51 per cent).
  • Form an alleyway committee made up of at least three abutting owners to oversee the implementation of the project and ensure its viability.

4 - Implement the project

  • Draft a development plan in collaboration with the borough.
  • Ensure that the required permits are issued.
  • Oversee the completion of work operations financed by the borough.
  • Inaugurate the green alleyway.

5- Ensure the proper maintenance through the green alleyway committee

  • seasonal cleanup and regular maintenance

Discuss the project with your neighbours and form an alleyway committee. This committee must be made up of at least six people, including one owner of a house located along the alley in question.

The committee must submit the application to Nature Action Québec before September 15. After review, the application will be submitted to the borough.

Main steps

  • Contact your éco-quartier team.
  • Form an alleyway committee with at least 5 residents living along the alley in question.
  • Carry out a survey meant to solicit the opinions of neighbouring residents.



If at least 51 per cent of residents are in favour of the project, and 75 per cent of neighbouring residents answered the survey, your poject will be reviewed.

  • Schedule a meeting with your neighbours and form an alleyway committee. 
  • Jointly determine the needs and development scenarios.
  • Secure authorization from the owners of buildings located along the alleyway in question.

Your éco-quartier will be able to inform you about the steps to take as well as provide advice and support throughout the implementation of your project.
