Road safety and traffic
Montréal is committed to making travel on foot, by bike and by car safe, and is implementing traffic mitigation measures. You can ask for a measure to be added.
Making our streets safer
By adopting the Vision Zero plan and deploying a team on the ground, the city is improving the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. The goal is to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries to zero by 2040.
Mitigating traffic
Traffic mitigation measures are gradually implemented by each borough in a targeted way after a thorough analysis.
- Speed limit reduction: School zones, areas around parks, residential streets, major thoroughfares
- Street layout: Speed humps, sidewalk extensions, road markings, speed displays, etc.
- Awareness-raising toencourage compliance with signage and regulations
We prioritize areas frequented by youth and elders.
If you believe that travel is not safe on your street, around the school or in other areas near you, you can request changes.
