- Maximum volume per address (per collection):
- Residential building with one to eight dwellings: 2 m3 per dwelling
- Residential building with nine to 49 dwellings: 1 m3 per dwelling
- Residential building with 50 or more dwellings: 0.5 m3 per dwelling.
- In excess of this amount, you must hire a private contractor.
- Maximum volume by object (except for household appliances): 1 m3 (35,3 ft3).
- Maximum weight per box or container: 25 kg (55 lb).
- Put out items in a way that does not compromise anyone’s safety.

You can bring upholstered furniture to the ecocentre, but it will not be recycled. Only the Saint-Laurent ecocentre recycles mattresses and box springs. Some companies will take back used mattresses or furniture when you buy a new one. As a last resort, take them out with your garbage.

Construction waste can also be tied in bundles up to 50 cm in diameter, 1 m long and weighing up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
Legislation
Only individuals may use this service. Schools, churches, embassies, non-profit organizations (NPO), compagnies and businesses must deal with a private company.
To avoid being fined, be sure to follow the collection schedule and guidelines.

During snow clearing operations, bulky items and construction debris are not collected.
Guidelines
- Maximum volume by address: 2 m3 (176 ft3). In excess of this amount, you must hire a private contractor.
- Maximum weight per box or container: 25 kg (55 lb).
- Put out items in a way that does not compromise anyone’s safety.
- For safety reasons, remove the doors of washers and dryers.
- For safety reasons, remove all nails, screws and other sharp metal parts.
- For safety reasons, avoid using cardboard boxes when it’s raining (the cardboard gets soggy and falls apart, causing the contents to fall out).
- Avoid taking out bulky objects and garbage when a snow removal operation is planned, as they can impede operations.
- Attach planks of wood in bundles that are no longer than 1 m (3.3 ft) long and with a diameter no greater than 50 cm (20 in). The weight of the bundle must not exceed 25 kg.
The seller of your new appliance may offer a pickup of your old appliance. Otherwise, you can take it to the ecocentre, making sure to handle it carefully so that there is no risk of breaking a pipe and releasing toxic gas into the atmosphere.
Acceptable materials
Non-upholstered furniture and bulky items
- Broken small appliances: kettle, toaster, food processor, microwave oven
- Large appliances with doors removed: kitchen stoves, washing machines, clothes dryers
- Hot water tanks
- Non-upholstered furniture made of wood, metal or plastic: cabinets, bookcases, desks, chairs without fabric, filing cabinets, dressers, tables, patio furniture
- Plumbing fixtures without screws or nails: bathtubs, sinks, toilets
- Large cardboard boxes that cannot be collected with the recyclable materials
- Rigid plastic objects: toys, slides, sandbox, equipment, patio furniture
- Large mirrors: standing mirror, large wall mirror
Small broken mirrors and drinking glasses must be disposed of in the garbage in safe disposable containers (cardboard or plastic boxes in good condition).
CRD debris
Small quantities only (25 kg maximum per container). Bring large quantities to the ecocentre.

Bring the following items to an ecocentre
- Acoustic tiles
- Clothing in good condition. You can also drop it off in the bells and donation containers.
- Christmas trees
- Electronic products: TVs, tablets, cell phones, computers, DVD players, stereos, printers
- Floor covering : carpet, linoleum
- Green waste: branches, trunks, dead leaves, grass clippings
- Household hazardous waste: batteries, car batteries, paint cans, used oil, aerosols, propane tanks
- Mineral wool
- Refrigerating appliances: refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, cellars.
- Sawdust
- Soil and rock
- Tires (car or bicycle). You can also return them to retailers, garages and dealerships.
- Furniture upholstered or covered with cloth, leather or any other fabric: mattresses, box springs, sofas, chairs, armchairs, cushions
