Would you like to take care of street cats? You can get a permit from your borough to participate in the Trap-Neuter-Release-Maintain (TNRM) program. Find out how here.
To get a permit, you must:
- Be 16 or over.
- Not have been declared guilty of an infraction under the Animal Welfare and Safety Act or an infraction of the Criminal Code that involves an animal.
- If you trap cats that are not on your property or you are a tenant, you must get authorization from the property owner. Some boroughs require written authorization or a power of attorney form from the board of administration for owners in a co-ownership situation or a housing cooperative.
The TNRM permit is free of charge and valid for one year. You must have it in your possession when carrying out program activities.
