Residents-only parking stickers are available everywhere in Montréal except Montréal-Nord. This sticker lets you park your vehicle in a defined area around your home.

In this borough, you can get a residents-only parking sticker for:

  • Your personal vehicle
  • A company car 
  • A Communauto or LocoMotion vehicle

1. Check your eligibility

To apply, you must:

  • Be the primary driver of the vehicle
  • Live in a residents-only parking zone

Ineligible vehicles

  • Vehicles weighing more than three tons (3,000 kg, net mass)
  • Farm and commercial vehicles (license plate starting with X) or service vehicles (tow truck, ambulance, etc.) 
  • Van, tractor, tow-truck or semi-trailer, combinations of vehicles (including trailers attached to vehicles)

Maximum number of stickers

  • One sticker per person per vehicle
  • Two stickers per address

A sticker cannot be refunded or reassigned to someone else. It can be transferred to another vehicle that you own, or for which you are the primary driver.

2. Determine your rate

First sticker

The rate depends on:

  • The purchase period. 
  • The vehicle registration:
    • Green plate for electric vehicles or plug-in hybrid vehicles
    • Blue plate for other types 
  • The vehicle’s weight (shown under Masse nette on the registration certificate).
Special rates

People with reduced mobility or a low income pay the lowest rate for the first sticker only, regardless of vehicle weight and license plate colour.

Second sticker

The fee is fixed. It depends solely on when the sticker is purchased.

3. Gather all required documents

Please attach the following supporting documents, based on your situation.

Registration certificate

If the registration is not in your name, also attach one of the following documents: 

  • Vehicle lease 
  • Declarations page from your insurance policy or letter from your employer on company letterhead, providing a description of the company vehicle (make, model and year) and naming you as the primary driver

If you have a green license plate, also provide a colour photo of it.

Communauto members don’t have to show these documents.

Proof of residence

Attach 2 of the following documents, dated within the past 3 months and showing your name and address:

  • Valid driver’s license or notice of renewal, or notice of renewal of your Québec health insurance card, or correspondence from the Municipal Court
  • Automobile insurance certificate or insurance contract declarations page
  • Utility bill (Hydro-Québec, natural gas, or telecommunication company such as Bell, Vidéotron, Rogers or other)
  • Official document from an educational institution
  • Statement from a financial, credit or investment institution, or a trust company
  • Monthly statement of investments from a trust or financial institution
  • Notice of change of address or proof of mail forwarding (sticker) from Canada Post
  • Official document from Revenu Québec or the Canada Revenue Agency
  • Employment Insurance statement

Residential leases, real estate and school tax bills are not accepted as proof of residence.

Entrepreneur who owns the vehicle
  • Copy of your Registre des entreprises du Québec (REQ) file, proving that you are the owner of the vehicle, the sole shareholder and sole member of the board of directors.
Low-income applicants
  • The most recent notice of assessment from Revenu Québec (2023 tax year) showing that your annual income (line 199 of the notice) did not exceed the authorized threshold of $31,096.
Person with reduced mobility
  • Copy of the valid disabled parking sticker attestation certificate issued by the SAAQ showing your address.
Communauto member (for a Communauto vehicle)
  • Car-sharing invoice with membership number showing the same name and address as the two proofs of residence provided.
LocoMotion car owner
  • Proof of using the service, showing:
    • Your name (primary driver of the vehicle)
    • Your address that is associated with the sticker
    • Validity date of the car-sharing service
    • The make, model, and registration of the vehicle
    • The name of the vehicle owner (if different)

4. Submit your application

The online form is the first step in processing your application and allows you to submit your supporting documents. Once your application has been approved, you must go to your local borough office to pay in cash, or mail in a cheque.

Registration certificate

If the certificate is not in your name, also include the insurance contract declarations page designating you as the primary driver.

If you are leasing your vehicle, also attach the lease agreement, which must be in your name.

Auto insurance certificate

If the certificate is not only in your name and for your address, also attach the insurance contract declarations page designating you as the primary driver.

If you drive a company vehicle, also include the insurance certificate and a letter from your employer (on letterhead), designating you as the primary driver and indicating the make, model and year of the vehicle and your address.

Proof of residence 

Please attach one of the following documents, dated within the past three months and showing your name and address:

  • Valid driver’s license or license renewal notice
  • Utility bill (Hydro-Québec, gas, telecommunication company such as Bell, Vidéotron, Rogers, or other) 
  • Invoice from an educational institution
  • Monthly statement from a credit or financial institution
  • Monthly statement of investments from a trust or financial institution

The price of an additional sticker depends solely on the date of purchase. The same rate applies to the visitors’ sticker.

People with reduced mobility get a special ratefor the first sticker only.

If you are leasing your vehicle, also attach the lease agreement, which must be in your name.

Automobile insurance certificate

If the certificate is not in your name and for your address, also attach the insurance contract declarations page designating you as the primary driver.

If you drive a company vehicle, also include:

  • the insurance certificate
  • a letter from your employer (on letterhead), designating you as the primary driver and indicating the make, model and year of the vehicle and your address

Proof of residence

Please attach 1 of the following documents, dated within the past 3 months and showing your name and address:

  • Valid driver’s license or license renewal notice
  • Utility bill (Hydro-Québec, gas, telecommunication company such as Bell, Vidéotron, Rogers, or other)
  • Invoice from an educational institution
  • Monthly statement from a credit or financial institution
  • Monthly statement of investments from a trust or financial institution
  • Notice of change of address or proof of mail forwarding (sticker) from Canada Post
  • Official documents from Revenu Québec or the Canada Revenue Agency
  • Employment Insurance statement
  • Québec health insurance (RAMQ) client card renewal notice
  • Correspondence from the municipal court
  • Automobile insurance certificate or the insurance contract declarations page designating you as the primary driver

Residential leases, real estate and school tax bills are not accepted as proof of residence.

Additional documents

Entrepreneur who owns the vehicle
  • A copy of your file in the Quebec Enterprise Register (REQ) proving that you are the owner, the sole shareholder and the sole member of the board of directors.
People with reduced mobility
  • Copy of the valid disabled parking sticker attestation certificate issued by the SAAQ showing your address.
Low-income earners
  • The most recent notice of assessment from Revenu Québec showing that your annual income (line 199 of the notice) did not exceed the authorized threshold of $30,486 in 2022 and $31,096 in 2023.

4. Submit your application

The online form is a first step in processing your application. It allows you to submit your supporting documents. To pay, you will need to visit your local borough office or mail in a cheque.

Due to high demand, online processing for a parking sticker takes approximately 20 business days.
