  • Automobile insurance certificate or insurance contract declarations page
  • Utility bill (Hydro-Québec, natural gas, or telecommunication company such as Bell, Vidéotron, Rogers or other)
  • Official document from an educational institution
  • Statement from a financial, credit or investment institution, or a trust company
  • Monthly statement of investments from a trust or financial institution

Residential leases and address change requests from the Service québécois de changement d’adresse (SQCA) are not accepted as proof of residence.

Additional document

If you are an entrepreneur who owns the vehicle:

  • A copy of your file in the Quebec Enterprise Register (REQ) proving that you are the owner, sole shareholder and sole member of the board of directors.

1. Understand the conditions

Your sticker will be exchanged free of charge if it’s still valid and you live in one of the following boroughs:

  • Ahuntsic-Cartierville (change of sector)
  • Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce
  • Le Plateau-Mont-Royal
  • Le Sud-Ouest
  • Mercier-Hochelaga–Maisonneuve
  • Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie
  • Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension
  • Ville-Marie

Please note that your sticker’s validity date remains the same after the exchange and that no fee adjustment will apply.

Did you move from another borough? You must apply for a new sticker.

2. Gather the necessary documents

Please attach copies of the following supporting documents to your application:

Old sticker

You may also use a photo of the cut-up sticker, proving that it is no longer usable. The license plate number must remain visible.

Vehicle registration certificate

The certificate must be in your name. If not, attach a copy of the insurance policy naming you as the primary driver.

If you are leasing your vehicle, also attach the lease agreement which must be in your name.

Automobile insurance certificate

If the certificate is not in your name and address, attach the extract of the insurance contract that names you as the primary driver at the address for which the sticker is requested.

Company vehicles: if you drive your employer’s vehicle, provide the insurance certificate and a letter from the employer (on letterhead) naming you as the primary driver and showing the make, model and year of the vehicle and your address.

Proof of residence

Provide one of the following documents (dated within the past three months) that shows your name and address: 

  • Valid driver’s license or license renewal notice
  • Utility bill (Hydro-Québec, gas, telecommunication company such as Bell, Vidéotron, Rogers, or other) 
  • Invoice from an educational institution
  • Monthly statement from a credit or financial institution
  • Monthly statement of investments from a trust or financial institution
  • Notice of change of address or proof of mail forwarding (sticker) from Canada Post
  • Official documents from Revenu Québec or the Canada Revenue Agency
  • Employment Insurance statement
  • Québec health insurance (RAMQ) client card renewal notice
  • Correspondence from the municipal court
  • Automobile insurance certificate or an extract from the insurance contract attesting that you are the primary driver
