How to request or cancel a civic number (street address)
Would you like to obtain a new a civic number (a municipal street address number) or cancel an existing one – perhaps as a result of construction or renovation work? Here’s how you can do so.
Only the property owner, or his or her agent holding a power of attorney, may submit an application for a civic number.

- A civic number can be cancelled if you want to convert a duplex to a single-family dwelling.

- For the addition of a dwelling or a premises, the processing fees for permit applications vary based on the projected cost of the work.
You will be required to pay $9.80 for every $1,000 of work.
Regardless of the cost of the work, you will be required to pay a minimum of:
- $161 for an exclusively residential building
- $473 for a commercial, industrial, institutional or mixed-use building
The projected costs must include all the fees associated with the work (e.g., plans, labour, equipment), taxes included.
The fees are non-refundable.

It is prohibited to paint the address number directly on the wall, or hang it from the wall on a piece of cardboard or on any other material.
