The sewer collector under Rue William, in Ville-Marie, will be rehabilitated. This work will ensure its structural integrity, improve its hydraulic capacity and extend its useful life.

What you need to know about this work

When?

End of March to end of August 2025

Where?

Rue William, between Rue McGill and Boulevard Robert-Bourassa.

What?

Rehabilitation of the sewer collector under Rue William, between Rue McGill and Boulevard Robert-Bourassa, along a length of 335 metres.

As part of this work, prefabricated segments of fibreglass-reinforced polyester (FRP) shells will be inserted into existing pipes. This will reinforce the structure without the need for major excavation. This technique reduces the impact on residents and mobility because it requires only one deep excavation point.

Why?

Inspections done in 2013 and 2023 found that the structural capacity of the collector under Rue William, between Boulevard Robert-Bourassa and Rue McGill had decreased significantly.

To improve the capacity of the structure and prevent failures, the city decided that rehabilitation work must be carried out in the very short term.
