Saint-Laurent libraries offer sensory kits
As part of Accessibility Month in October, Saint-Laurent’s libraries are launching a new service: the loan of sensory kits.
Primarily intended for neurodivergent children, these kits are designed to meet a variety of specific sensory needs.
Each kit has a specific objective to support people with neurological differences. They were developed in collaboration with neurodivergent staff members, with the goal of fostering inclusion, discovery, and well-being, while also highlighting the importance of accessibility in Saint-Laurent’s libraries. Their contents may vary depending on the theme and the availability of items.
At the moment, two complementary experiences are available:
• Bibliothèque du Boisé offers a “discovery” kit containing various sensory objects.
• Bibliothèque du Vieux-Saint-Laurent offers several kits tailored to specific sensory needs such as concentration, stimulation, or motor skills.
Already available, the new kits can be borrowed for a minimum of three weeks.
