Buy or rent a municipal property (immovable)

Last updated June 15, 2023

Do you want to buy or rent a building or land owned by the city? Find out what you need to know.

Montréal occasionally sells sites that are part of the municipal land reserve, and properties it has acquired through tax default. It establishes the sales process which is usually done through calls for bids. Details are published (in French) in the Système électroniqoue d’appel d’offres (SÉAO) and in the city’s appels d’offres list in the newspaper, Le Devoir (in French).

The land reserve is a land bank that the city holds to promote development that is beneficial to everyone.
