An artistic tennis practice wall inspires the next generation at Brook Park
The Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro, in collaboration with Tennis Montréal, is proud to unveil the very first practice mural at Brook Park, in the presence of borough council members, Tennis Montréal Executive Director Hugues Léger, and mural artist Jenna Schwartz.
This unique work was produced by the team at the non-profit organization MURAL. Created by artist Jenna Schwartz, the mural features young Montreal athlete Gabriel Diallo and aims to encourage the free practice of tennis while celebrating Montreal’s urban art scene. Diallo, who is rapidly rising through the ranks of the ATP tour, embodies a new generation of Quebec talent alongside Leylah Fernandez and Félix Auger-Aliassime, who inspire young people to take up this sport, which is gaining popularity internationally.
Inspiring the next generation of local players and democratizing the practice of tennis
The project is part of an initiative by Tennis Montréal and Pierrefonds-Roxboro to make tennis more accessible, notably by installing artistic practice walls—also known as “ball backs”—in city parks. These walls, often the starting point for great players, become places of learning, gathering, and local pride.
The mural in Brook Park, provided free of charge thanks to financial support from the Ville de Montreal and Tennis Montreal, is part of the borough’s efforts to revitalize its sports facilities and offer citizens modern and inspiring infrastructure.
“Tennis and murals are an integral part of Montreal’s summer identity. This project combines sport, culture, and local inspiration to create a vibrant and inclusive space.”
