Blue-collar workers’ strike on February 4, 2026

On February 4, the city’s blue-collar workers will hold a 24-hour strike beginning on February 4, at 6 a.m. and end on Thursday, February 5, at 5:59 a.m. During this period, essential services will be maintained, but certain public services will be disrupted temporarily.

Essential services maintained

The following essential services related to public health and safety will be maintained:

  • Snow-removal operations (snow-clearing and loading, spreading of abrasives and salt)

  • Street-cleaning operations

  • Pavement repairs (major holes or collapses)

  • Prevention rounds in municipal arenas

  • Cleaning of public areas for user safety

  • Traffic light repairs, namely following accidents

  • Aqueduct and sewer repairs

  • Operations related to drinking water production and wastewater treatment

  • Maintenance of living collections (animals, plants and insects)

Foreseeable impacts

The following services will be disrupted temporarily: 

  • Some municipal facilities will be closed 

  • Some activities and services will be postponed or cancelled 

Plan ahead by checking if the municipal facility is open or if the activity you had planned for is still taking place.
