Highlights of Saint-Laurent's 2024 Financial Report

The Saint-Laurent Mayor, Alan DeSousa, tabled his Highlights of Saint-Laurent’s 2024 Financial Report at the Council meeting held on September 2.

In addition to presenting the details of the 2024 budget, including expenditures incurred under the 10-Year Capital Expenditure Program, the Mayor presented a review of the year’s achievements in the various aspects of municipal administration. 

2024 Financial Report overview 

Among the 2024 highlights, Mr. DeSousa specifically underscored the following:

  • Adoption of bylaw amendments to protect birds and limit light pollution.
  • Announcement of the creation of a new Collaborative Innovation Centre in Aerospace and Mobility in Saint-Laurent.
  • Creation of the John-Lyman green link in line with phase 3 of the Biodiversity Corridor.
  • Launch of organic waste collection at buildings with 61 to 100 housing units.
  • Opening of Montréal’s first Treatment centre for organic waste in Saint-Laurent.
  • Opening of the counter at the Maison de la culture at the Bibliothèque du Boisé.
  • Creation of the Zone épique, a program for children aged 8 to 12 at the Centre des loisirs and Centre communautaire Painter.
  • Introduction of the Vieux-Saint-Laurent, Quartier culturel route and its first activity program. 

The Mayor of Saint-Laurent also mentioned the 62,460 people served by the Bureau du citoyen, the 994 housing units approved by the Advisory Committee on Planning, including 727 in projects aiming for LEED Gold certification, the 550 new trees planted, the value of building permits totaling $280.5 million, $3.95-million investments in road, sidewalk and curb repairs and geometric designs by Ville de Montréal and the Saint-Laurent, as well as $1.5-million investments to improve safety around schools.
