Description
For 60 minutes, facilitators read to small children and their parents so they can enjoy the pleasure of family storytime. The activity is held in spaces where newly arrived families or families with low-incomes often frequent, such as housing projects, neighbourhood health clinics, community organizations, family centres or toy libraries.
To organize an activity, you must have a location that is suitable for parents and children.
Objectives
The program aims to:
- Help children and parents develop a taste for reading
- Support immigrant parents in learning and using French
- Educate parents about the importance of helping children read and write
- Encourage parents to visit their neighbourhood library
