The Pierrefonds-Roxboro Urban Planning Advisory Committee reviews urban planning requests and makes recommendations to facilitate decision-making by the borough council.

The committee, as its name suggests, has an advisory role. Its mission is to study projects to improve their quality. The main objective of the Urban Planning Advisory Committee is to ensure the harmonious integration of construction or transformation projects into their environment.

The committee’s mandate

The planning advisory committee’s mandate is to study and make recommendations to the borough council regarding the following requests:

  • Requests for minor exemptions;
  • Requests relating to zoning changes, site planning and architectural integration plans, specific projects for the construction, modification or occupancy of a building and demolitions;
  • Any request regarding town planning, zoning, subdivision and construction submitted to it by the Borough Council or the secretary of the committee.

Role and structure of the Urban Planning Advisory Committee

The borough’s planning advisory committee is made up of six (6) citizen members and one (1) member of the borough council. Added to this is a maximum of two (2) citizen members acting as alternates.

The members of the committee are appointed by resolution of the borough council and they also sit on the borough’s demolition committee. The committee meets once (1) a month to study files subject to discretionary procedures and to make recommendations to the borough council.

The committee meets behind closed doors but can invite any person whose presence could be useful for the proper understanding of a project or the evaluation of its impact on the environment of integration. However, these invited persons cannot participate in the deliberations.
