Schedule an appointment for a property assessment inspection
Did you receive a letter from the property assessment department (Direction de l’évaluation foncière) to schedule an appointment for your property? Find out how to book your visit.
Reasons for the inspection
If you have recently purchased a property or carried out renovation, development or extension work on your property, a property assessment inspector may visit the premises. For immovables with more than one dwelling unit, the inspector must have access to all units.
Under the act concerning municipal taxation (Loi sur la fiscalité municipale), an inspection is required every 9 years. Therefore, you may receive an inspection request even if you have not made any changes to your property.
Other techniques also enable the Direction de l’évaluation foncière to update data related to your property. They include sales inquiries, construction cost analyses, economic data collection and self-inspection forms for condominiums.
Schedule an appointment
The procedure depends on your situation:
- If you did not make any changes to your property, book your appointment right away.
- If you have carried out work on your property, please fill out and submit the following form: Construction work inquiry (with or without a permit), then book your appointment.
- If you have purchased the property, you can book your appointment, then submit the Sales inquiry.
