Did you receive a request to take part in the collection of economic data? How will this information help determine the value of your building? What documents will you need to provide? Find out everything that you need to know.

Collecting economic data is one way of assessing the property value of income-generating buildings. This information is used to develop property assessment rolls for the 16 municipalities in the agglomeration. Information is collected every 3 years, before new rolls are tabled.

How is the value of income-generating buildings calculated?

Economic data collection involves some 35,000 income-generating buildings. This process allows us to gather information that will be used to determine your home’s property value based on real estate market conditions and your building’s specific characteristics. For example, you’ll be asked for information such as income, expenses or a list of tenants who occupy the premises.

Building value is determined according to the income method. This involves estimating property value based on the net income it can generate, in comparison with similar types of property and according to a reference date. For the newest property assessment rolls, which will come into force on January 1, 2026, the reference date is July 1, 2024.
