Description

With Hélène Laforce

To travel to ancient Mesoamerica (El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, Yucatán and Chiapas) is to get in touch with the sacred architecture of the pyramids and ball courts, to follow in the footsteps left by a grandiose civilization marked by its polytheistic mythology, its human sacrifices, its passion for the analysis of sacred time through its calendars. It is also to highlight the differences of this vision of the world with the Aztec and Inca civilizations.

With a background in history (master’s degree in medical history and doctoral student in historical demography), Hélène Laforce is the recipient of the Edmond de Nevers, Luc Lacoursière and Albert Tessier prizes. She also has several publications to her credit on the history of midwifery in Quebec. She taught the history of religions at the Cégep de Limoilou for 35 years.
