Submitting a draft petition is the first step to getting a public consultation. See the page Understanding the right of initiative for details about the criteria and stages of the process.
To submit a draft petition, you must:
- be 15 years of age or older and live within the area targeted by this draft petition
- complete the online form or the paper form
- obtain 25 signatures from Montréal residents aged 15 or older who live in the area that the draft concerns
- designate three people who may be contacted by the city among the 25 draft petition signatories
You may submit your draft petition by using the online service or completing the print form. Clearly indicate the purpose of the draft and why a public consultation on this subject is in the interest of the community.
If the draft is accepted, the city will contact you. You may proceed to the next step, which consists of having the petition signed by 15,000 people.
With this service, you can make an application and get signatures online. If you use this service, you must take all subsequent steps online.
To use this service, you will need to have an account.
If you submit an application in the form of a print document, all subsequent steps must be taken in paper format, including the collection of signatures.
