Every spring, all Borough services are mobilized in case of potential spring floods. Learn more about the current situation.

Currently, water flows along the Rivière des Prairies are increasing, and according to civil security hydrological forecasts, a rise in levels could occur in the next 36 to 48 hours.

Although minor flood thresholds have now been exceeded, the water is still far from reaching the historic levels observed in 2017 and 2019.

Our teams are mobilized and continue to monitor the situation daily by measuring water levels at various locations in Pierrefonds-Roxboro. We have also deployed protective equipment in targeted areas, in accordance with our specific intervention plan.

Here are the measures your Borough has implemented so far

  1. Preparation of significant quantities of sandbags

  2. Deployment of protection systems, including various models of efficient flood barriers

  3. Installation of inflatable water barriers

  4. Placement of sealing balloons inside storm sewers by a professional diver. These balloons are ready to be inflated if necessary

  5. Acquisition of industrial pumps

Distribution of sandbags

Please note that no systematic distribution of sandbags is planned by the Borough.

I However, if your address qualifies for targeted distribution, you will be informed by a paper notice or by a visit from a foreman responsible for protection measures. A pallet of sandbags will be delivered directly to your property. You will need to install the sandbags to prioritize the openings of your residence, such as doors and windows.

We remind you that each homeowner is responsible for taking steps to protect their property and belongings.

Follow the situation on our dedicated web page and on the Pierrefonds-Roxboro Borough Facebook page.
