Watering ban in effect in Pierrefonds-Roxboro
The overconsumption of drinking water, combined with the heat and lack of rainfall, is forcing the Ville de Montréal to issue a watering ban, effective until further notice across the entire territory of Pierrefonds-Roxboro.
The Ville de Montréal is informing residents served by the Pierrefonds drinking water production plant — including those in the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro and the cities of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Senneville, and Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue — that a watering ban is in effect starting today, until further notice.
This notice is issued due to the poor water quality of the Rivière-des-Prairies, caused by a drop in water levels. As a result, the water treatment process is under significant strain. However, the quality of the water produced at the plant continues to meet high standards.
Tap water quality remains excellent. The following guidelines must be followed until the ban is lifted regarding permitted uses or prohibted uses: See regulations here
Permitted Uses:
- Watering garden plants and flowers using a spray nozzle that shuts off when released
- Watering newly installed landscaping or a newly seeded residential lawn
- Filling a new swimming pool
- Maintaining the water level in a swimming pool
For more details, residents are encouraged to consult the Water Usage Regulations on montreal.ca, which promote responsible water consumption and aim to ensure adequate distribution.
