Description
Frederic Hore, photojournaliste
Hundreds of mysterious, monolithic Moai stone statues standing erect on volcanic Easter Island, have long intrigued travellers, archeologists, scientists and historians alike, ever since their initial discovery by Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen in 1722. It inspired the famous 1947 Kon-Tiki voyage by Norwegian adventurer and ethnographer Thor Heyerdahl, who documented how ancient Polynesians were able to sail across the vast Pacific Ocean, to inhabit this small and secluded tropical island paradise, plunked in the middle of nowhere. Join Voyageurfred for the adventure, as he takes you on another wondrous odyssey, to reveal the fate of the mystical Moai people and their famous stone statues, and the life and traditions of their descendants, who live today on Rapa Nui
