Work projects on Avenue des Pins could have an impact on your daily life. Find out what you need to know.

Work on underground infrastructure and the redesign of the street will continue from Boulevard Saint-Laurent to Avenue du Parc until the end of September 2023.

Current and future work

From spring 2022 to the end of summer 2023 between Boulevard Saint-Laurent and Avenue du Parc:

  • Replacement of water pipes
  • Reconstruction and repair of sewer lines
  • Replacement of lead water-service entries on public and private sections
  • Work on the electric, gas and cable networks
  • Creation of a public plaza at Rue Jeanne-Mance, including installation of an artwork commemorating nurses
  • Relocation of lampposts and traffic lights to enlarge space on the sidewalks
  • Installation of raised pedestrian crosswalks
  • Construction of vegetated curb extensions
  • Addition of one-way, protected bike paths
  • Upgrading of traffic signals and street lighting
  • Planting of about 60 trees, in addition to the hundred already planted during Phase One of the work

Starting in summer 2023, between Rue Saint-Denis and Avenue du Parc:

  • Installation of bicycle racks and contemporary street furniture
  • Creation of a historic walking tour presenting the district’s rich history

Work schedule

  • Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Evenings and weekends if necessary

Hindrances during work on Avenue des Pins

On Avenue des Pins, between Boulevard Saint-Laurent and Avenue du Parc:

  • Complete closure between April to September 2023
  • Barriers projected at various intersections in the work zone
  • Partial closure of the intersection at Avenue des Pins and Boulevard Saint-Laurent until the end of September 2023.

Access to buildings

Pedestrian access to residences, businesses and buildings will be maintained at all times.

Work managers will closely collaborate with businesses and institutions to reduce temporary obstructions to their buildings and impacts on their activities.

Anticipated impacts

  • Water will be shut off for a few short periods of time (between two and 12 hours) during infrastructure work
  • The use of construction tools and other equipment needed to complete the work may cause dust, noise and vibrations, despite all the limitation efforts put in place
