Are you 65 years old or more? Are you sick or have limited mobility? Lachine’s libraries are launching a new service to give you better access to their documents.

As of October 2020, the Biblio-maison or home loan service will enable us to deliver library books to you for free.

  • People over 65 years of age
  • People who are sick or have limited mobility who submit an appropriate medical certificate

All recipients of this service must be residents of Lachine.

Register by phone at 514 872-1706. You will need to provide your name, address, date of birth and telephone number.

The librarian will ask you a few questions about your reading preferences and interests to guide you in your choice of library documents.

Library card

An up-to-date card is required. You will be able to become a member or renew your membership over the phone when you register, if necessary.

Holds (reservations) and delivery of your documents

It couldn’t be simpler! You can send your titles by email or call 514 872-1706 and ask for the librarian.

Together, you will schedule an appointment for the delivery of your documents by a Borough employee.

Return of documents and frequency

Please use the paper bag given to you with the borrowed books. Every four weeks, we will deliver your new loans and pick up the returns.

If you would like to take a break from this service, please let us know and we will arrange an appointment to pick up the documents you have.

Loan period

You will be able to keep your documents for four weeks with the possibility of renewing them up to three times unless a hold has been placed on your documents by another library member.

Simply renew online, by phone or by email.
