The Conseil jeunesse de LaSalle (LaSalle Youth Council)
The Conseil jeunesse de LaSalle (CJL) gives a voice to the Borough’s youth.
About the CJL
The CJL is an advisory committee currently made up of 10 young people, but can have up to 12 members. Ranging in age from 14 to 26, they are interested in democratic life and represent the young people of LaSalle, expressing their concerns and ideas with a view to making them a reality. Together, the members play an important role in helping to evaluate and find potential solutions for contributing to the development of the Borough and its residents.
Role
The Conseil jeunesse promotes young people’s collective and individual power, so that they can be recognized and respected as full-fledged citizens. It provides a governance and engagement opportunity for its Council members, to promote the active participation of young people in the development of the LaSalle community. The CJL is a group that reports to Borough Council and is run by young volunteers, on behalf of the Borough’s young people.
The CJL takes into account the opinions of young people in the Borough on issues such as their well-being, their concerns and their community priorities, and it values diversity in all its forms (cultural, gender, ethnic, social, linguistic, geographic, etc.).
