The aim of the Grand parc de l’Est project is to protect and improve the last remaining unspoilt areas in east-end Montréal. It includes green and blue spaces covering an area 3½ times the size of Parc du Mont-Royal.

Offering new places to enjoy nature

In the long term, residents will reap many new benefits from the park’s creation. Beside preserving biodiversity, this major new park will offer improved access to nature and become home to various local recreation and tourism initiatives.

Surrounded by residential and industrial areas, Grand Parc de l’Est will include public, institutional and private lands. It brings together diverse environments and rich, complementary ecosystems. The Pointe-aux-Prairies nature park and the Île-Bonfoin nature reserve will form part of this new park.

Thinking of future generations

Planning for the Grand Parc de l’Est has so far identified 700 hectares of green space. In the coming years, acquisitions and collaboration agreements will enable us to develop the park to offer outdoor spaces that have a positive impact on residents’ health and quality of life.
