Have you made a small garden in your yard or on your balcony? It’s all you need to help pollinators, like birds, and to contribute to the fight against climate change. It’s now time to proudly show off your garden – no matter how small – to your fellow citizens by registering it for Saint-Laurent’s Mon jardin écolo contest!

Now in its fourth edition, this contest meshes with the popular plant distribution held during Garden Month in May. Furthermore, it satisfies the objectives of the Saint-Laurent 2021-2030 Climate Emergency Plan which strives, specifically, to promote urban farming and mobilize the public around the cause of protecting biodiversity. Furthermore, by offering participants the opportunity to invite their virtual community to vote for their gardens on social media, the contest establishes urban farming ambassadors whose influence extends past Saint-Laurent’s borders!

Register your garden in July!

Throughout the month of July 2025, gardening enthusiasts in Saint-Laurent are invited to submit photos of their outdoor garden arrangements to Saint-Laurent their exterior fittings in one of the following categories:

• In-ground gardens
• Balcony gardens

To be eligible, the development must be located on a private property in Saint-Laurent in one of the four collection sectors:

• Sector 1
• Sector 2
• Sector 3
• Sector 4

To identify your collection sector, type your address in the form on the Info-collectes website.

Share your garden online for public voting in August!

Participants will be able to share their gardens on social media from August 1, as all entries will be voted on online throughout the month.

For each of the borough’s four collection sectors, prizes selected by the Arrondissement de Saint-Laurent valued at between $50 and $100 will be awarded for the garden arrangements that receive the most votes in each category. Only one vote per day per category for each sector can be registered per IP address.

The winners will be announced in September. 

Rules

Registration for the Mon jardin écolo contest is open to Saint-Laurent residents only.

Winners will be contacted in September and invited to a ceremony at Saint-Laurent City Hall. The Arrondissement will then announce the winners.

Prizes will also be awarded at each of the nine community gardens in Saint-Laurent. Lots will automatically be registered. There is no need for gardeners to register their lot or to share them online during the voting period.
