To improve safety on our territory, the Borough wishes to remind road users that it is prohibited to park a vehicle less than 5 metres from an intersection or crosswalk.

As a preventive measure, a number of intersections have been marked accordingly on our territory this fall, more specifically in the Village des Rapides sector near local commercial establishments.

Road safety legislation

This parking regulation stems from section 386.4 of the Québec Highway Safety Code and applies to all intersections, whether marked or not! By parking less than 5 metres from an intersection, motorists not only put the safety of other road users at risk, but also run the risk of receiving a parking ticket.

Enforcement of this restriction is handled by the Agence de mobilité durable, responsible for parking regulations in Montréal.

Compliance with this obligation will not only help reduce the risk of collisions, but also improve the visibility of road users as well as protecting pedestrians and cyclists.
