Mandate of Pierrefonds-Roxboro’s Seniors’ Council
The role of the Pierrefonds-Roxboro Seniors Council is to advise the mayor and elected officials on all issues that affect seniors, and to ensure that the concerns of seniors are taken into account in decisions concerning the borough.
On December 4, 2023, the mandate of nine members of the Pierrefonds-Roxboro Seniors’ Council was confirmed by the borough’s municipal council. In the photo, the new members are accompanied by the mayor and municipal councillors.

- Members attended a presentation of the Borough’s Social Development Action Plan and Urban Security Action Plan.
- Members attended a presentation by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM, Poste de Quartier 3) on the Liaisons Aînés project to combat elder abuse.
- Members attended conferences on fraud prevention.
- They attended presentations by the Leisure, Culture and Library teams.
- Members gave their opinions on library programming, shows and leisure activities.
- Members visited the Salon des aînés organized by Carrefour des aînés in May 2024.
- They attended a presentation by the Urban Planning Division on park development projects.
- Members offered suggestions for the addition of deckchairs and misters for our parks.
- Council of Seniors member Claudine Campeau visited the Salon des aînés de Saint-Jérôme with city councillors Catherine Clément Talbot and Louise Leroux in September 2024.
- Members visited the Salon des aînés organized by Carrefour des aînés in May.
- Representation in a kiosk at the Pierrefonds Library and the Pierrefonds Cultural Centre during the Journées de la Culture on October 5 and 6.
- Members attended a presentation by ABOVAS and the Table des aînés de l’Ouest de l’Île.
- Members visited the Salon des aînés in Lasalle in September.
- Presentation by the Table de Quartier du Nord-Ouest de l’Île de Montréal in November
- Meeting and lunch with members of both Councils on December 5 at the Pierrefonds library.

- Taking part in the immunization clinic at the Gerry-Robertson Community Centre to promote the Seniors’ Council and to better understand the needs expressed by seniors

- Purchasing business cards for members
- Promotional item - purchasing safety whistles with the Senior Council’s logo
- Event - Focus group at the Pierrefonds cultural centre under the theme ”Make your concerns known”- 4 themes: Mobility; Well-being and Health; Leisure and Social Life; Communications.

Eligibiliy requirements
- To be 55 years of age or older.
- Demonstrate interest in getting involved in seniors’ issues.
- To be a resident of the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro
- Beeing available to participate in the Pierrefond-Roxboro Seniors Council meetings (about 6 times per year) and in various committees responsible for studying specific issues.
- Not be involved in a seniors group in another municipality.
- Not be a member of the executive of a political party or trade union organization.
- Not be an employee of the City of Montreal and not have, directly or indirectly, a contract with the City of Montreal.
Recruitement process
After the analysis of applications by the selection committee, interviews may be carried out with the selected candidates.
