Storm sewer system upgrad
This project will involve building two protective structures to prevent the backups that cause flooding in the area. The chambers will isolate the storm sewer system during major spring floods.
When?
Scheduled start: Week of January 22
Scheduled completion: Mid-May
Where?
Boulevard Gouin Ouest, between Boulevard Saint-Jean and Rue René-Émard
Quoi?
Storm sewer upgrades
- Construction of two backflow protection chambers
- Installation of force mains inside existing outfalls
- Detour of storm sewer pipes
Why?
The area of Boulevard Gouin where the storm sewer is located is prone to spring flooding. During floods, which occur almost every year, the sewer system tends to fill and back up, causing overflows further into the borough. This is why these infrastructures need to be upgraded.
