The city has demolished a portion of Rue De La Gauchetière to create a temporary grassy area that make the area greener since summer 2021. Sidewalks are built to make it easier for pedestrians to move around and to provide a more inviting space.

Between Rue Peel and Rue de la Cathédrale, one eastbound lane is maintained. Access to private buildings will also be maintained.

This work is part of the redesign of Rue Peel between Rue Smith and Boulevard René-Lévesque.

Rue De La Gauchetière, between Rues Peel and de la Cathédrale, will be permanently transformed over the next few years. The project’s design concept is currently being developed.
