Architecture, landscapes, archaeology and know-how are just a few examples of the tangible and intangible heritage that forges Montréal’s identity. The Grands Prix Opération Patrimoine awards recognize the efforts of citizens to preserve these shared treasures. Here are videos (in French) presenting the award winners for 2023.

Winners

Grand prix Prendre soin (Taking Care prize)

1851-1853, boulevard Pie-IX: Marie-Christine Jacques and Michel Fournier bought this ancestral home built in 1897. With the help of skilled craftsmen, they have restored and refurbished it in an exemplary fashion.

Grand prix Redonner vie (Restoration prize)

Maison Robert-Bélanger: Owned by the Robert and Bélanger families since the early 19th century, the town has taken possession of this last farmhouse on chemin Saint-Louis-des-Bois-Francs in the village of Saint-Laurent and has recently restored it. The conservation work was carried out by DFS Architecture and WAA, while the mediation project was developed by VertCité.

Grand prix Savoir-faire (Know-How prize)

Pierlucio Pellissier: curator and restorer of modern and antique frescoes and interior decor. Over the past 3 years, he has worked on restoring the frescoes in the Notre-Dame-de-la-Défense church in Little Italy.

Organisme Franchir les seuils: Mélissa Mars, interior designer and heritage specialist, in collaboration with the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec, created the Intérieurs patrimoniaux promotion initiative.

Grand prix Agir ensemble (Acting Together prize)

Groupe d’action muséologique: created by Montréal tour guide Jean-Philippe Riopel, the group is dedicated to the protection of material heritage. In particular, it has taken up the defense of the Wings collection in Chinatown, which was in danger of disappearing as the people who built it aged.

The videos were produced by Jean Beaudin of La Centrale à images.
