Société d'habitation et de développement de Montréal

The Société d’habitation et de développement de Montréal, a representative of the city, manages and maintains a large and diverse housing stock.

The Société d’habitation et de développement de Montréal (SHDM) is the city’s partner in implementing housing and development policies and objectives. Its primary mission is to contribute to the city’s economic and social development by promoting residential, institutional, industrial, commercial and cultural real estate assets within Montréal’s city limits.

The SHDM primarily works in five ways:

  • Elle rend disponibles des unités de logement locatif à prix abordable, privé ou communautaire
  • It supports residential co-ownership project marketing through its Accès Condos program
  • It takes part in major renovation projects in order to keep its housing stock in good condition
  • At the city’s request, it operates or develops municipal property assets
  • It acquires lots or buildings for operational or development purposes
