History of Jonathan Alternative School
Created and founded in 1974 by Charles E. Caouette and Denise Gaudet as a university research project in education and psychology (école-laboratoire), the name and logo of the Jonathan Alternative School are inspired by the book “Jonathan Livingston the Seagull”, by Richard Bach, in which it is written: “From now on, we have a reason to live: to learn, to discover, to be free”. It is a member of the Réseau des écoles publiques alternatives du Québec and also part of the Centre de services scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeoys. The school, located at 705 boulevard Décarie, has six multi-age classes, representing some 100 children.
