Nzinga - Théâtre de la Sentinelle

With this autobiographical piece, writer and actor Tatiana Zinga Botao revisits her Congolese roots with spirit and passion, drawing connections between her personal story and the turbulent history of the Republic of the Congo.

Description

Born in Congo, Tatiana Zinga Botao grew up in Brussels and later settled in Quebec. As an adult, she discovered that she shares her name with a queen who ruled a vast African kingdom in the 17th century. Alone onstage, the artist recreates the ancestral thread that connects her to her ancestor, following the Congo-Belgium-Canada path that she herself travelled.

This theatrical narrative is delivered in the tradition of the griots, the storytellers and historians who play a key role in the transmission of knowledge.
