Permit application for private snow removal contractors

Private contractors must get a permit for each vehicle they use for snow removal or snow clearing.

Permits must be displayed inside the vehicle or on its windshield at all times. Be sure it is visible.

Validity

Permits are valid from November 1 to October 31 of the next year.

2021 fees

•  $100

•  $25 per additional vehicle

Identification pole

Snow removal contractors must install at least one identification pole on the private property where they are performing snow removal work. 

This post must:

  • indicate the contractor’s name and phone number and be visible from the outside at all times
  • be made of wood and measure no more than 2.5 cm by 5 cm
  • be installed only between November 1 and April 15.

Validity

  • Permits are valid from June 1 to May 31 of the following year.  
  • A request for review must be submitted for any change to information provided. An updated permit must be issued before snow removal work can resume.

  • $27
  • $12 per additional vehicle

  • The contractor’s name and phone number must appear on the pole, which must be visible outside at all times.
